Gender and Protection Officer at the Pampam Development Initiative


The Pampam Development Initiative (PDI) is a National Non-Governmental Organisation (NNGO) with the core mandate of providing humanitarian assistance to persons affected by disasters or conflicts, leading to their displacement, or living in a stressed condition. The organisation also strives to make individuals and community members live in good health and wellbeing, through the creation and improvement of access to quality health, education, nutrition, protection, and WASH services. The organisation also ensures that the people have and live in a decent and friendly environment, by ensuring environmental preservation and sustainability.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:



Job Title: Gender and Protection Officer

Location: Jimeta, Adamawa
Employment Type: Contract

Responsibilities
The Gender and Protection Officer is expected to undertake the following duties:
Gender Mainstreaming and Advocacy:

  • Advise on gender-related questions and issues, ensuring that gender considerations are integrated into project activities.
  • Promote gender equality and women’s empowerment within the project context.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Regularly monitor project activities to assess their impact on gender equality and protection.
  • Provide activity reports, including field photos, to the Program Manager (PM) after each session

Confidentiality and Data Management:

  • Handle confidential information responsibly, limiting access to immediate team members.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection protocols and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive data.

Capacity Building and Training:

  • Build the capacity of project staff and partners to deliver gender-responsive work.
  • Provide training and guidance on gender mainstreaming and protection principles.

Policy and Strategy Development:

  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to gender acceptance and protection.
  • Establish guidelines for addressing gender-based violence (GBV) and ensuring the safety of vulnerable populations.

Advocacy and Representation:

  • Represent the project in meetings and external fora related to gender, protection, and social inclusion.
  • Engage with government, civil society, and international organizations to advance gender-related goals in line with the PDI values.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess Bachelor's Degree with 2 - 3 years relevant work experience.
