Hearty Helping Hand initiatives is a humanitarian non-governmental, non-profit organization founded in Nigeria, Borno state Maiduguri and has been in operation since 2021 as Rescues Aid Initiatives before its official registration with CAC on 25th April 2022 as Hearty Helping Hand Initiative. Hearty Helping Hand Initiative work with the aim of to support, protects and dignify the living condition of the displaced and venerable while co-creating longer term opportunities for sustainable growth and fulfilling their potentials and effectively respond to the needs of crisis-affected communities. we focus in the sector WASH, Food security and livelihood, CCCM/Shelter/NFI, Protection, Nutrition, Education and Psych-social support in the area of operation.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:



Job Title: GBV Case Worker - Volunteer

Location: Maiduguri and Jere - Borno
Employment Type: Volunteer

Role Purpose

  • The Case Worker is responsible to provide direct and day-to-day survivor cantered case management services to Gender Based Violence survivors including psychosocial support to individual at risk of Gender Based Violence.
  • He/she will facilitate information sessions as well as referrals to other service providers.
  • The Case Worker will be responsible for the management of the safe spaces for women and girls and will receive supervision support from the GBV project Officer.

Dimension of the Role

  • In collaboration with the other staff, the above category of staff will be responsible for the following:
  • Provide direct, one-on-one and ongoing case management services, including safety planning
  • Provide referrals for survivors to other services including child protection and specialized mental health services, sexual reproductive health services and accompany of survivors where appropriate and conduct follow-up to ensure appropriate services have been provided to the survivor.

Accountabilities
Program Activities:

  • Liaise with community volunteers for purposes of survivor follow-up as part of case management to individual survivors.
  • Ensures that Survivor Centred Approach Guiding principles maintained and enforced in while working with survivors including in safe spaces for women and girls.
  • Facilitate the setting up of information desk at the women and girls centre where adolescent and women of reproductive age can access Sexual Reproductive Health information.
  • Contribute within the women and girls centre to the identification of at risk girls, boys, women and men and ensure proper documentation providers (Health, legal counselling, shelter, livelihoods or mental health etc.)
  • Provide direct support and care for vulnerable women and girls (including survivors of gender-based violence) including basic information counselling.
  • Support GBV at risk individuals or survivors by referring them when necessary and in respect of their consent to other service

Case Management:

  • Assessment of survivor needs, developing an action plan, implementing the pan, follow up and case closure processes in line with the GBV case management standard operating procedure and IASC guidelines on case management (SOP).
  • Provide direct age appropriate support and care to vulnerable adolescent and young women (including survivors of GBV) that includes counselling and case management for under 18 years’ survivors in line with case management: Best Interest Determination (BID), age appropriate engagement and decision making by survivor
  • Ensure survivors and other women and girls at risk of GBV received livelihood support
  • Ensure at all times the safety, dignity and confidentiality of the survivor and his or her information
  • Submit weekly and monthly activities reports to the supervisor every Friday and at the end of each month.
  • Ensure the principle of safety and confidentiality of beneficiaries’ data.
  • Work with the Project Officers to facilitate Training's and sensitization to community groups, and Community Based Organizations on GBV.
  • Support in the mobilization of women group for the project
  • Assist in the activities of the safe spaces and adolescent friendly centres established in health facilities
  • Ensure Do No Harm analysis are carried out and the principle of Do No Harm is observed and upheld in all the engagements of the Case Worker.
  • Organize regular case conference meetings to address challenging cases and ensure survivors receive quality services and with dignity.

Coordination & Representation:

  • Participate in Bi-Weekly supervision meeting with GBV Project Officer to ensure adherence to standards of care and appropriate case management.
  • Where necessary and in consultation with the GBV Project Officer participate in LGA level coordination meeting.
  • Maintain positive coordination and relationship with other partners in the field at all times.

Technical Experience, Skills and Knowledge
Qualifications and Experience:

  • B.Sc or HND preferably in Social Science, Psychology, Gender Law or a related course
  • Languages: Hausa, Kanuri and English, other local languages an advantage
  • Previous trainings/experience in GBV, services and referrals is highly desired
  • Experience facilitating group activities preferred
  • Experience working with adolescents and young women is added advantage
  • Previous training/experience in GBV programming desirable
  • Qualified candidates living within Maiduguri and Jere are also strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Level of Contact with Children:
  • High contact- the job responsibilities of this position require the post holder to have very frequent contact with children and women
  • It is expected that children who come in contact with Hearty helping Hand Initiative (3HI) shall be protected at all times.
