Job Title: Fork Lift Operator
Location: Onitsha, Anambra
Employment Type: Full-time

The Role

  • Reporting to the Transport Manager the Forklift Operator operates the forklift. The incumbent is responsible for operating and managing industrial forklifts to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines and loading docks, into railroad cars or trucks or storage facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Unloading materials and merchandise from incoming vehicles and stacking them to assigned places
  • Locating and moving stock of products to pallets or crates for storage or shipment
  • Identifying damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies
  • Follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices.
  • Housekeeping and sanitation
  • All health and safety procedures to be followed
  • Clean forklift and maintain cleanliness in work area
  • All health and safety procedures to be followed
  • Complying to food safety guidelines as provided in quality and safety standards as updated from time to time under different standards.
  • Locate and move stock of products to pallets or crates for storage or shipment
  • Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies
  • Transport raw materials to production workstations
  • Inspect machinery to determine the need for repairs and guarantee safety by performing regular maintenance
  • Keep updated records of inventory and activity logs
  • Comply with company policies and legal guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess a BS.c Degree
  • Proven experience as forklift operator
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment, to bend, and to stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Willingness to work in shifts (late or early hours, weekends, and overtime if necessary)
  • A strong strategic and business mindset
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment
  • Excellent physical condition and coordination
  • Valid certification to operate forklifts
  • Ability to work in a team
