Job Title: Financial Accountant (Reporting & Tax)
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Purpose
- The Financial Accountant is responsible for ensuring compliance with various tax legislation in Nigeria including countries such as UK, US and South Africa, as well as the financial reporting function of the Clickatell Group.
- This role is essential in identifying, managing, and mitigating tax risks to prevent financial loss and safeguard the Group’s reputation.
- Additionally, the incumbent will ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements.

Financial reporting and Tax compliance:
- Deliver a full range of corporate tax services in compliance with laws and regulations within timeframe.
- Act as the key point of contact and support for local taxation matters in the jurisdictions where the company operates.
- Preparation of Provisional and Income Tax returns for group entities
- Preparation of monthly income tax and deferred tax computations for group entities
- Preparation and submission of VAT and WHT returns for group entities.
- Withholding tax administration.
- Assistance with maintaining the Group’s transfer pricing policy.
- Prepare financial statements for all reporting entities within the Clickatell Group in accordance with IFRS standards.
- Calculate and prepare all workings for notes to be included in the financial statements.
- Act as the key point of contact, liaising with external auditors and internal stakeholders to address all financial statement queries.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of the ledger balance to the VAT returns and WHT returns.
- Identify, correct and communicate tax accounting errors to the responsible persons.
- Provide information relating to the tax reconciliations, tax provisions and annual report tax note to the external auditors.
Requirements of the Role
- Relevant Bachelor's Degree
- ICAN , ACA and FCA candidate preferred
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 3 – 5 Years relevant experience in a similar finance role
- Experience in creating and maintaining complex spread sheets.
- Experience in tax audit at Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and State Internal Revenue Services (SIRS) advantageous
- Microsoft Dynamics (NAV) experience will be advantageous
- In-Depth Knowledge and Ability (this means that you are the “go-to” person):
- Advanced MS Excel skills essential
- Experience submitting tax returns
- Must have IFRS knowledge
