Finance Officer (Emergency WASH and MPCA Project) at Relief Rescue Initiative (RRI)
Relief Rescue Initiative (RRI) is a National Non-governmental organization, which is committed and active in community humanitarian and developmental projects with its presence in Borno and Adamwa states. The primary focus of RRI is on improving and alleviating the problems of the less privileged, deprived, vulnerable group and people affected by armed conflicts in their struggle to obtain a life of justice and dignity. Areas of focus include; food security and livelihood, Nutrition, Protection, Education, Water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), Metal health, and psychosocial support (MHPSS) achieved through the implementation of projects targeted at the community level especially on the most vulnerable members of the community.
In line with its focus, RRI will be implementing General Food Distributions (GFD) through the In-kind and Blanket Supplementary Program (BSFP) in Magumeri LGA of Borno State. This is aimed at preventing already vulnerable House Holds from falling into starvation and malnutrition, focusing particularly on young children 6 – 23/24 months and pregnant and lactating women and girls (PLW).
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Finance Officer
Locations: Jahun, Miga, Kirikasama, Buji and Gwaram LGAs - Jigawa

Description
- Under the direct supervision of the Head of Programs, the Finance Officer will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- The ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of financial principles, excellent numerical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, payments, and collections.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and journals.
- Assist with internal and external audits, including the preparation of audit schedules and responses to audit inquiries.
- Monitor cash flow and liquidity, identifying and addressing any discrepancies or issues.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial guidance and support.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and budgets.
- Conduct financial analysis and forecasting to support decision-making processes.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in finance and accounting.
Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse:
- Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within Relief Rescue Initiative and amongst beneficiaries served by Relief Rescue Initiative.
Compliance& Ethics:
- Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout Relief Rescue Initiative. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of Relief Rescue Initiative and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards. Conducts work with the highest level of integrity.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Proven experience in finance or accounting roles, with knowledge of financial principles and practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to upholding ethical standards and integrity in financial practices.
- A professional certificate is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
