Job Title: Finance Officer

Job Description

  • The Finance Officer for the NGO will ensure effective financial management, accountability, and compliance with donor and regulatory requirements.
  • This role involves managing budgets, overseeing statutory deductions, preparing financial reports, and supporting the organization's mission by ensuring financial sustainability and integrity.

Key Responsibilities
Budgeting and Financial Planning:

  • Develop and monitor project and organizational budgets, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and NGO goals.
  • Provide financial forecasts to guide decision-making and resource allocation.

Grant and Donor Financial Management:

  • Ensure donor funds are tracked and utilized according to agreements and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare donor financial reports and ensure alignment with grant guidelines.
  • Monitor fund disbursement and report variances to stakeholders.

Audit and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Prepare for external and donor audits, ensuring all required documentation is accurate and readily available.
  • Ensure compliance with financial and donor regulations and organizational policies.

Accounting and Bookkeeping:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all projects and organizational activities.
  • Process payments, receipts, and invoices, ensuring adherence to financial policies.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and track cash flow.

Statutory Deductions and Compliance:

  • Accurately calculate, process, and remit statutory deductions (e.g., PAYE, pensions, NHF, ITF) in compliance with Nigerian laws.
  • Ensure timely submission of all statutory payments to relevant authorities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of statutory and donor regulations.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management, donors, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct financial analyses and provide actionable insights for improved financial management.

Capacity Building:

  • Train and support staff on financial processes, donor compliance, and budget management.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial systems and policies.

Cost Control and Risk Management:

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and develop strategies to minimize financial risks.
  • Regularly review financial data for inconsistencies and address potential risks proactively.

Payroll and Benefits Administration:

  • Process monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy and timely disbursements.
  • Manage employee benefits and maintain proper documentation of deductions and payments.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial management, preferably within the NGO sector.
  • Proficiency in financial management software and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to upholding transparency, integrity, and accountability in financial processes.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., ICAN) are an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of donor-funded project management, including budget preparation and reporting.

Salary
N200,000 - N250,000 Monthly.
