Job Title: Finance Assistant - Nigeria Strengthening Civic Advocacy and Local Engagement (SCALE)
Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Contract
Duration: 1 year, with possibility of extension for an additional 6 months

Purpose of Position

  • The Finance Assistant is responsible for supporting the financial administration and assisting in the implementation of programmatic activities of the SCALE Project office. This position is based in Abuja, Nigeria.
  • The Finance Assistant will report to the accountant.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Finance and Record Management:

  • Support DOA upload process for real time uploads and follow up for approval with COP.
  • Support filling process (electronic and hard copies).
  • Maintain a register for other documents submitted to the finance unit for review and payment processing.
  • Support stamping and scanning of finance documents for Bi-weekly field voucher reporting.
  • Assist the Accountant with reconciliation, journal entries, financial reporting and month-end closeout.
  • Support in collection of documents and timely review of participants payment.
  • Support collection and timely review of staff retirements.
  • Support collection and tracking of partners payments to finance unit electronically.

Programmatic Support:

  • Assist in Budget review for TB concept.
  • Organize all the logistical and operational aspects of travels for the TB concept such as developing a logistics memo.
  • Assist with taking notes during staff meetings.
  • Other tasks as deemed necessary by the COP.

Required Qualifications

  • A Degree in Accounting, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • A minimum of one year of work experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to maintain financial records and prepare financial reports.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in English and a local language is required.
  • Must be authorized to work in Nigeria.
  • Prior experience working on USAID-funded projects is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
  • Ability to communicate with high-level officials and vendors in a professional manner, both via written and verbal communication.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills; strong attention to detail.
