Job Title: Finance Analyst
Location: Lagos
About the Finance Analyst Role
- As a Finance Analyst at Paystack, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and compiling financial reports and statements in compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements, managing merchant receivables, maintaining accounts receivable and accounts payable, and validating bank statements and balances. Other responsibilities include monthly accounting entries for the preparation of the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
- And you’ll do all this while wpolicies and compliance requirements.
- This role is full-time and remote-friendly within +/- 3hrs of West African Standard Time. - You should be well versed in reading and understanding financial statements. You’ll also be responsible for implementing and maintaining a system of internal controls that will ensure that company assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared in alignment with all financial permit for a Nigeria-move. You will report to the Financial Reporting Manager.
What you’ll be doing
- Month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing
- Quarterly balance sheet and P&L fluctuation analyses
- Monthly expense variance analysis
- Perform daily and weekly revenue recognition and cost optimization exercises
- Oversee expense management via accounting tools (e.g. Oracle) and ensure proper GL coding and processing of expenses
- Ensure compliance of internal controls and suggest process improvements as needed
- Determine, document and implement the Company’s internal audit policies
- Work with external auditors to perform the annual audits for all our jurisdictions
- Support overall department goals and objectives
- Consolidation, inter-company transactions and reconciliations including foreign currency accounting
- Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP (IFRS, US GAAP, and OHADA)
- Balance sheet accounts reconciliations
- Oracle implementation team member
- Interface with team members in various departments, including engineering, sales, customer success, and legal
- Fulfill other ad-hoc finance requests as requested by management
What it takes to succeed
- Have a minimum of 3 years of accounting experience within a multinational business or top tier accounting firm, and have a mastery of IFRS accounting standards (US GAAP and OHADA a plus)
- Have a high level of attention to detail
- Are able to work collaboratively across departmental functions
- Have strong knowledge of internal controls and financial reporting
- Have the appetite to jump headfirst into a fast-moving, fast-growing, mission-driven team that values creativity and output over effort
- Be analytical and interested in finance
- Are highly proficient in MS Excel
- Have fantastic written and spoken communication skills
While this is NOT strictly required, it would be a plus if you:
- Have previous experience in the banking, payments, or credit card industry
- Have experience with Oracle
- Have experience with SQL
