The Women and Children Health Empowerment Foundation (WACHEF), is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered to practice in Nigeria. The NGO works in partnership with public, private and other non-government organizations to promote accountability, good governance and contribute in achieving equitable, sustainable and quality healthcareand social services delivery among the poor and vulnerable population, especially women and childrenin Nigeria. WACHEF was registered with Taraba State Government in 2001 and with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Nigeria in August 2005 with registration number CAC/IT/No 19194.

WACHEF is a member of World Hepatis Alliance (WHA), International Alliance of Patients` Organization (IAPO), Tuberculosis Network of Nigeria, African Liver Patients Association (ALPA), Association of OVC NGOs in Nigeria (AONN), Network Against Child Trafficking Abuse and Labor (NACTAL),Civil Society for HIV and AIDS in Nigeria (CiSHAN), Coalition of Civil Society Organization in Taraba State among others. The organization has implemented several projects under World Bank, Global Fund, BMGF etc. WACHEF is implementing Local Right Programme (LRP) using Child Sponsorship Mechanism in Taraba State with funding from Actionaid Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:



Job Title: Finance & Admin Officer
Location: Jalingo, Taraba

Job Description

  • The Finance Officer is responsible for preparing budget and workplan of the organization, manage the day to day running of the financial records and receipt report, policies, in compliance with WACHEF/ACTIONAID NIGERIA regulations and organizational policy.
  • The Finance Officer works with ACTIONAID NIGERIA team to oversees the financial management of the project and ensure timely submission of report

Specific Responsibilities
Primary Responsibility:

  • The Finance officer will ensure that the organization complies with Donor regulations and WACHEF Finance Policies and Procedure and Principle of Stewardship.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely submission of liquidation, reports, forecast and other ad hoc reports as required to management, donors and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure the organization have a functional internal control system in compliance to IAS/GAAP.
  • Support in procurement process to ensure compliance to WACHEF/ACTIONAID NIGERIA regulations and organizational policy.
  • Ensure staff and vendor advances are timely and properly documented and tracked.
  • Support internal/External audit processes and support management to ensure audit issues are successfully closed.
  • Provide professional and experienced advice to management on finance related decisions.
  • Support program team in ensuring program objectives are successfully implemented.
  • Prepare, edit and submit budgets and costed work plans as required.
  • Ensure all financial reports of the organization are properly documented and on file for ease of reference.
  • Participate in various organizational and financial assessments that may be done in the organization from time to time.

Qualifications and Abilities

  • Must hold a BSc / HND in Accounting
  • Master’s degree and professional qualification is an added advantage
  • Minimum of two years relevant experience, preferably with an NGO/CBO/CSO.
  • Must have completed NYSC
  • Strong internal relationship management and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrate high level of initiative, diplomacy and tact
  • Excellent knowledge of computer software – MS Office (PowerPoint and Excel especially);
  • Must be flexible and be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication, report skills
  • Must be a matured, motivated, problem-solving individual with high levels of initiative;
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Language Proficiency:

  • English, Hausa & Mummuye as added advantage.
