Description

- We have an exciting opportunity for a Telecommunications Field Engineer to join our team nationwide!
Responsibilities
- Install, move, repair, and modify telecommunications and related equipment according to job order specifications, standards, and procedures.
- Determine cable, wire, and equipment needed to accomplish service requests.
- Support Networking and Telecommunications by providing consultation on special telephone/data communications services and projects.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Contribute to a work environment that encourages diversity and cultural inclusivity.
- Stay current with telecommunications industry standards and principles through regular review and study of technical resources and attending relevant training courses and seminars.
- Install circuits, cross-connects, equipment, etc., and interconnect circuits to ECS or at the vendor demarcation location.
- Test and verify proper operation of installed circuits and/or equipment.
- Ensure that circuits and/or equipment provide the requested service to the customer.
- Complete work orders, update network documentation, and interface with off-campus telecommunications vendors.
- Assume shared responsibility for the cable plant, including determining and assigning appropriate inside cable pairs and coordinating with other technicians for cable pair assignments.
- Maintain inventory and stock, recommend purchases of technical and non-technical supplies, and take responsibility for tools and test equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of Networking and Telecommunications.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Associate's Degree or completion of college courses equivalent to an Associate's Degree with an emphasis in Telecommunications or Electronics is preferred.
- Experience: High school diploma holders require at least four years of experience in the installation or management of a large and sophisticated telecom cable plant.
- Associate's Degree holders require two years of related work experience providing in-depth knowledge of installation and maintenance of telecommunications equipment and inside cable plant design and installation.
Certification:
- Preferred certification on the installation of Category 6 UTP cabling.
Skills:
- Strong communication system analysis, troubleshooting, and repair skills.
- Knowledge of telecommunications networks and equipment operation and use.
- Proficiency in using a personal computer, basic cable tester, and other installation tools and equipment.
- Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with twisted pair, fiber, and coax installation methods and color coding conventions.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and work independently or as part of a team.
Other:
- Ability to work in various locations and environments, including construction areas, labs, tunnels, manholes, etc.
- Physical ability to climb ladders, lift materials, and use small hand tools and test equipment.
- Fine finger and hand dexterity is required.
Salary Range
NGN100,000 - NGN150,000 monthly.
