Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Job Description

  • We are looking for an electrical engineer to join our organization for a One-year renewable contract.
  • As an Electrical Engineer, you will apply your knowledge of industrial, commercial, and residential electrical system design requirements, and project management skills to execute projects and help grow the business by developing strong relationships with our clients.
  • As the Electrical Engineer, you will coordinate electrical engineering efforts from project initiation, through construction, and commissioning.

Tasks Include:

  • Design commercial and residential lighting systems, both interior and exterior, and street lights.
  • Design and retrofit 22kV, 11kV, 415V, and 230V electrical systems
  • Help develop and refine electrical department procedures and specifications.
  • Be capable of interacting with senior management at Ashipa Electric as well as with clients and vendors.
  • Write specs to purchase electrical equipment.
  • Write energization guidelines with the initial operations team.
  • Travel to the project site during construction to answer questions.
  • Utilize the experience of master electricians to provide unique details in each design
  • Support construction with technical issues during interconnection of large PV & energy storage system.
  • Have detailed knowledge of IEC and other industry standards
  • Evaluate client requirements and author clarifications and exceptions to RFPs, project execution plans, electrical scopes of work, and design basis documents.
  • Preparation of electrical studies including the following: electrical system load studies, short-circuit analysis, relay coordination, arc flash studies, motor starting system dynamics, harmonics analysis, ground fault analysis, and other calculations as required.
  • Have detailed knowledge of SKM or ETAP electrical system modeling software packages.
  • Join Project Engineers and Master Electricians for on-site surveys to begin value-engineering
  • Create designs alongside industry partners to stay ahead as technologies rapidly develop
  • Design protection and relaying systems for PV and energy storage systems
  • Perform electrical calculations associated with the design of DC, AC, and MV electrical systems

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have basic knowledge of construction methods such as cable tray installation, cable pulling, cable testing
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, PV, and battery modeling software, and IEC interconnection standards.
  • Not less than 5 years of related electrical engineering experience.
  • Excellent partnering and team-building skills.
  • Exhibits a high level of creativity and resourcefulness.
  • Candidates should be comfortable with basic test equipment: multimeters, power quality meters, etc.
  • Experience with low to high-voltage electrical systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of industry standards and codes such as IEC, IEEE color series books is a plus.
  • Accountable for scheduling, budgeting, and making trips to job sites to survey existing electrical conditions.
  • Registered Professional Engineer
