Main Purpose of Job
- Hands-on Electrician to carry out effective day to day maintenance work, routine maintenance, preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, new installation and construction works.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist TWG team to attend to work requests on regular basis as it affects the mission’s operations.
- Follow FCO health & safety standards in regular works, also ensuring compliance with all TWG work practices and policies.
- Assist TWG team to complete planned preventive maintenance (PPM) works and meet the deadline as per our Calendar schedule.
- Attend to all Ad hoc tasks delegated by Building Services Manager (BSM) and provide updates on the same.
- Carry out daily routine inspection and maintenance of all electrical panels and Distribution boards.
- Routine and corrective maintenance of all small power outlets.
- Carry out routine Inspection and maintenance of Generators, ATS, and LV Stabilisers etc.
- Carry out routine Inspection and maintenance of building elevators (lift) and fire system.
- Carry out routine Inspection and maintenance of all fan coil units and room thermostats.
- Conduct weekly test on fire alarm system.
- Responsible for all Energy Isolation and De-Isolation during maintenance.
- Read and interpret blueprints or Electrical diagrams
- Install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems.
- Install, maintain or repair electrical wiring or equipment.
- Routine inspection and maintenance of electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers.
- Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices.
- Follow the building regulations based on British standard.
- Execute plans of electrical wiring for well functioning lighting, intercom and other electrical system.
- Install safety and distribution component such as switches, sensors, resistors, circuit breakers, relays and other electronics components
- Prepare and assemble conduit both galvanize and PVC and connect wiring through them.
- Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units.
- Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Electrical Labour Trade Test 1, 2, & 3 (Ministry of Labour & Productivity Certificate of Competence).
- Minimum of 3 years experience providing Electrical maintenance and installation services in Multi-complex Office buildings.
- Possess 2 and 4 wheel vehicle driving license.
- Computer literate - Word, Outlook (email) and Excel.
- Trained Watford 1500kVa Stabiliser maintenance personnel.
- Experience maintaining MCC panels.
- Experience maintaining DDC Panels

Main Purpose of Job
- This is an exciting role in a part of Africa that has received renewed UK and Ministerial attention since the election in 2015 of President Buhari.
- Reporting to the Head of Communications in Abuja, the successful candidate will work within the Communications Team as the Lagos based Press and Public Affairs Officer.
- The main objectives are to deliver and implement a range of communications tasks to support and project the objectives of HMG in Nigeria. Duties will include, but will not be limited to, designing text and audio-visual material for use on the BHC media channels, and working with a broad range of media stakeholders to deliver HMG messages.
- The role is based in Lagos, contributing to the larger communications team based in Abuja.
- The successful candidate will also provide tailored communications planning support to HMG departments working on the BHC platform.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:
- Work with Lagos based HMG departments, including British Council, DFID, DIT UKVI to establish and implement appropriate campaign plans ensuring cross HMG communication is coordinated both within Lagos and across the network
- Provide media support to the Deputy British High Commissioner and British High Commissioner on visits to Lagos and the South West.
- Create graphics to communicate messages that inspire, inform and engage audiences on the BHC digital channels.
- Monitor digital, print and broadcast media for issues of interest to the UK mission in Nigeria
- Effectively manage media relationships acting as the first point of contact for interviews and media requests including drafting news releases and press lines
- Photograph and record BDHC and other HMG departments’ activities as required
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Thorough knowledge of social media, including the ability design strategy and analyse usage in order to shape BHC engagement and to focus campaigns
- Appropriate work experience in a media, marketing, advertising or public relations role
- Excellent analytical, writing, communication and presentation skills
- 3 to 5 years experience work experience in a media, advertising, marketing or public relations role
- Familiarity with messaging for digital diplomacy
- Strong collaborative skills including professional and confident communication with external stakeholders and team members
- Ability to maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Evidence of maintaining effective professional networks of contacts
- Evidence of designing and delivering communications plans

- Possess 2 and 4 wheel vehicle driving license.
- Computer literate - Word, Outlook (email) and Excel.
- Trained Avon Barrier Systems maintenance personnel.
- Experience maintaining Trox Fan-coil Units
