HumAngle Media Limited, founded by two Nigerian journalists, Obiora Chukwumba, (PhD) and Ahmad Salkida in March 2020, is a media platform committed to passionate, insightful and objective coverage of insecurity across Africa.

Over the years, insecurity has become the chief driver of mass mortality, economic and state instability in the region, yet it attracts no dedicated coverage from the media. HumAngle is the African Daily Newspaper focused on insecurity and humanitarian values. The reporting from HumAngle is delivered for public and special access in digital print and visual broadcast editions, featuring breaking news, analysis and factual commentary across the Sahel and Lake Chad; the Gulf of Guinea; Niger Delta and the sub-Saharan territories.

We are recruiting to fill the positions of:

Job Title: Research and Data Analyst

Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Full Time

Responsibilities

• Coordinating the quarterly publication of extensive reports about trends in the security and development sectors.
• Analyzing data using statistical or mathematical software to generate descriptive statistics and develop statistical models and graphics.
• Collaborating with other employees to design and develop data mining, visualization, and analytical processes, and meeting the data demands of general publications.
• Collecting and evaluating information available publicly via news organizations, government reports, online forms, blogs, news sites, and other sources for research, marketing, and planning.
• Designing and using research tools such as questionnaires, focus groups, and interview schedules to collect relevant information.

Requirements

• At least 3 years’ experience as a Data Analyst.
• A Bachelor's Degree qualification; Post-graduate qualification is desirable.
• Statistical and programming languages tools e.g. Excel, SPSS, Eviews, SAS, Python, Oracle, SQL, etc.
• Exceptional writing and communication skills. 
• Experience in conducting both qualitative and quantitative research.
• Ability to develop extensive and concise reports.
• Experience with data storage structures, mining, and data cleansing.

Job Title: Program Officer

Location: Abuja
Employment Type: Full Time

Responsibilities

• Supporting the grant management, stakeholder management, fulfilment of donor and organizational reporting requirements.
• Reporting and following up on contacts and meetings with donors and partners; understanding donors’ policies, approaches and funding opportunities; providing information and following up on new project opportunities.
• Assisting in the development of concept notes, budget, manuals etc. for projects.
• Monitoring budgets and work plans; identifying challenges and problem-solving approaches.
• Tracking financial reports and working with Finance and Accounts to prevent cost overruns and under-runs on projects.
• Coordinating projects from the initial stage to their conclusion, along with the preparation of project reports.

Requirements 

• A Degree in any field; Post-graduate qualification desirable.
• At least 3 years’ experience working on international donor-funded programme in relation to the media space. 
• At least 3 years’ experience in project implementation, development of concept notes, program reporting, budget manuals, guidance documents, etc. 
• Experience in disseminating communication services including success stories, fact sheets, donor reports, briefs and publications.

Job Title: Multimedia Editor

Location: Abuja

Job Responsibilities 

• Directing and editing multimedia projects. 
• Tracking and promoting content performance.
• Leading the development and improvement of audio-visual contents across digital platforms.
• Reviewing raw footage from the field and editing as required for publication.
• Directing and preparing video edits for the company’s platforms and coming up with innovative and creative ideas and contents. 
• Scripting and editing for video and podcast contents for the company’s audience. 

Requirements

• Degree in Mass Media or any related field is preferred.
• At least 3 years’ experience in video production, script writing, digital and social media.
• High level of technical expertise, knowledge of editing software, i.e. Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, etc.
• Proven experience managing the development of multimedia, digital and audience-first content. 
• Strong skills in management and coordination of multiple activities and teams. 
• Excellent knowledge of social media and familiarity with trends.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
• Passion for creative storytelling with a background in digital content is desirable. 
• Experience working for an online news platform is preferred.
