Creative Content Writer (Communications and Advocacy for Social Impact) at Policy Innovation Centre


The Policy Innovation Centre (PIC) is Africa's first national institutionalized behavioral initiative. We support governments and stakeholders in making behaviorally informed decisions and generating evidence for impactful interventions in key areas: Global Health, Education, Innovative Digital Solutions, Agriculture, Climate and Food Security, Poverty, Livelihoods, and Jobs, Governance, Gender Inclusion

Initiated by the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG), and funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) in 2017, the PIC was launched in October 2021 after the success of the interim Policy Innovation Unit (PIU). We provide evidence-driven, contextually relevant, and sustainable solutions to development issues through Behavioral Diagnostics, HumanCentered Design, and Sustainable Delivery.

Overview

  • Whether it is redesigning governance to eradicate hunger or ending poverty through innovative digital solutions, we are excited to engage a creative and results-oriented Creative Content Writer with broad experience and a record of success (Bachelor's and Master's degree holders) who wants to contribute to our vision of delivering better policies and innovative solutions for social impact.
  • We value the opportunity to work with future leaders who want to grow personally and professionally and create impact in the social impact sector. During this 6 months program, you will be able to see the direct outputs of your work while navigating through your journey of changing the world.

Your Role

  • Do you have an experience that makes our mission meaningful to you personally? As a Management Associate (master's degree holder) or a Management Executive (bachelor's degree holder) at the Policy Innovation Centre (PIC), you will have the chance to contribute to our initiatives through engaging, meaningful work assignments.
  • You'll work across different thematic areas in the organization including Global Health, Education, Innovative Digital Solutions, Agriculture, Climate and Food Security, Poverty, Livelihoods, Jobs, Governance, and Gender Inclusion. Job Responsibilities

  • Craft imaginative interpretations of project briefs, bringing concepts to life through unique storytelling and creative flair.
  • Develop compelling narratives and content that resonate with diverse audiences, infusing creativity into every word.
  • Curate captivating social media captions that inspire and enhance brand presence, fostering engagement.
  • Create concise yet impactful messages that spark conversations and leave a lasting impression.
  • Generate innovative concepts for communication tasks, blending creativity with strategic thinking to effectively convey key messages.
  • Write engaging video scripts and collaborate with video editing teams.
  • Manage email marketing campaigns by creating impactful email copy.
  • Support the branding process, website redesign, social media, and multimedia communications.
  • Assist with internal communications initiatives.
  • Monitor and analyze website traffic, engagement metrics, and user behavior to optimize content performance.
  • Design compelling visual and narrative strategies that resonate across various platforms, ensuring cohesive brand storytelling.
  • Create engaging and informative content for websites, blogs, social media, and digital platforms.
  • Conduct thorough research on industry-related topics to ensure content accuracy and relevance.
  • Collaborate with our technical team to develop content strategies and campaigns aligned with our brand and audience.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in content creation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Available for a full-time internship for 6 months
  • Minimum of 4 years experience as a Creative Content Writer or similar role
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to advance organizational mission by designing and executing communication strategies to increase reach and impact.
  • Enthusiastic about a career in communications and advocacy for social impact
  • Comfortable working under deadline pressure.
  • Previous experience in communication with a development organization, NGO, Civil Society or Media agency will be an added advantage
  • Proficiency in content management systems (CMS) and social media platforms.
  • Understanding of SEO principles and keyword research.
  • Strong creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Association and partnership with a credible marketing communication agency/body/group
