TAF Africa is an independent non-governmental/not-for profit organization originally established to promote health, socio-economic rights, well-being, and empowerment of persons with albinism. The organization has since evolved to become a focus organization that advocates for the recognition and respect of the rights, socio-economic and political inclusion of persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups in Nigeria and the around the World. The foundation contributes to legislative and policy action that promotes the rights of PWDs, and effective mainstreaming of inclusion.

Job Title: Consultant

Location: Central Business District, Abuja

Background

  • TAF Africa seeks experts to administer her Political Inclusion Index Tool on key electoral monitoring bodies to measure their compliance with the Electoral Act and other extant regulations.
  • These assessments which are expected to be done in Abuja will cover key institutions INEC, Political Parties, Media, and Security institutions to measure their level of inclusion of PWDs in their distinct roles in the electioneering process.

 Activities:

  • The political inclusion index tool would be administered on {a} INEC as the umbrella body coordinating elections across Nigeria; {b} the major political parties including the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressive Congress (APC), Labor Party (LP), All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Youth Progressive Party (YPP) and New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). The tool also will be administered on security institutions including the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC). Lastly, the tool will be deployed on 9 media houses drawn from televisions, radios, and print. For the TVs – Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Channels Television, and Arise Television (or TVC) will be visited. For the Radio stations, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Raypower FM and Nigeria Info will be visited. The print media, The Tribune, Punch and Daily Trust would be visited.

The Consultant shall provide the following services:

  • Visit the selected institutions' managers and leaders across INEC, Political Parties, Media and Security as listed above.
  • Conduct face-to-face interviews with the selected respondents, not without first obtaining permission.
  • Record accurately the answers and code them accordingly.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of answers and perform accuracy checks on the questionnaires (whenever applied)

The Consultant shall submit a work plan of activities and milestones to guide the delivery of the services and measurement of impact. The work plan shall be submitted within 2 weeks of the signing of this agreement.

The Consultant will be responsible for hiring and training interviewers, data analysts etc. Interviewers should be able to interact with all classes of stakeholders. They will be skilled at building rapport and be experienced in dealing with the assigned respondents. It is expected that the exercise will be concluded within 8 weeks across all selected stakeholders.

The Outputs for this assignment will be:

  • Workplan for the exercise
  • List of researchers and interviewers used.
  • Full report of the assessments with clear recommendations on how to strengthen disability inclusion across relevant institutions and sectors 1 week before the end of the consultancy period.

Salary
N700,000 Monthly.
