Job Title: Construction Superintendent

Location: Lagos / Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Contract
Functionally reports to: Construction Manager/Engineering and Operations Manager
Contract Type: 1 Year

Job Description

  • We are looking to engage a Construction Superintendent who will managing assembly and mechanical completion in compliance with the project requirements in terms of timing, costs and quality, making sure that all activities are performed in accordance with the company's HSSE instructions and current health, safety, security and environment regulations.
  • When requested, assist the CM in the early stages of the project, providing information on assembly operations required for the preparation of the Construction Execution Plan;
  • Attend meetings for coordinating assembly activities, acting as the primary contact person for the CM in relation to the actual state of progress and issues involved in assembly and mechanical completion;
  • Coordinate execution of assembly activities, implementing the plans and actions agreed on in coordination meetings and the instructions of the CM, and ensuring proper integration between contractors and vendors in compliance with HSSE regulations;
  • Supervise and ensure compliance with company or project HSSE instructions and use of protective devices by in-house personnel and subcontractors, promptly notifying the HSSE Service and CM of any HSSE nonconformity noted, including those in work tools and equipment, and any other hazardous or near-miss conditions that may arise while the work is underway;
  • Monitor prompt execution of activities, providing the CM with all the information required for prompt verification of the work performed by contractors and notifying the CM of any cases of inadequate performance, proposing alternative solutions to any problems that may arise;
  • Supervise and ensure compliance with product quality requirements during project implementation;
  • Assess any problems identified with the CM and help to define possible corrective actions for making up for any delays that may occur;
  • Interface with the Logistic Manager, monitoring distribution of materials, notifying the CM promptly of any critical points in assembly in the event of failure to comply with delivery deadlines;
  • Check that only adequately trained workers can access areas where they are exposed to specific serious risks;
  • In the presence of serious, immediate danger, suspend work and notify the employees involved in the work, CM and the management of the companies immediately of the risk and the provisions taken or to be taken for protection;
  • In the event of an emergency, request compliance with the measures for controlling risk and instruct workers to evacuate the danger zone;
  • Support the CM in preparation of the Close-out Report;

Requirements

  • Graduate in relevant Engineering or strong experience in the same role;
  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Minimum of 20+ years of experience and 7+ year of relevant experience in similar position.
