Job Title: Compliance and Control Officer

Location: Marina, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • Conduct periodic reviews of business processes to ensure alignment with company policies.
  • Monitor transactions, client engagements, and records to detect and escalate non-compliance issues.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain a risk register and ensure timely follow-up on identified risks and audit findings.
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to local regulations (e.g., SEC, CBN, and other applicable laws)
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of compliance activities and control procedures.
  • Prepare periodic compliance and risk management reports for senior management and the board of directors
  • Report any breaches, suspicious activities, or risk events promptly to the appropriate authorities.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and ensure timely resolution of issues raised.
  • Assist in drafting and updating compliance policies and internal procedures.
  • Ensure all employees understand their compliance obligations through regular training and communication.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, CISA, or CAMS) are an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., SEC, CBN).
  • Excellent understanding of compliance principles, AML/KYC guidelines, and corporate governance.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify risks and propose effective controls.
  • 6 - 8 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or internal control roles, preferably in financial services.
  • Knowledge of capital markets is highly desirable.
