Job Description
- We are searching for a Communications Intern to provide programmatic support, content design, social media updates, and coordinate communication and media-related project(s) activities.
- The Communications Intern will work under the supervision of the Communications Coordinator based in Abuja, with a dotted line to the Head of PDQR (Program, Development, Quality and Reporting) based in Abuja.
- Support the scheduling of regular posts to maintain a consistent online presence.
- Capture high-quality photographs and videos during events and activities.
- Edit and enhance multimedia content for digital platforms.
- Support the development of compelling visual materials that are aligned with Search’s messaging.
- Experiment with new software, tools, and techniques to continuously improve design and communication skills.
- Develop and create engaging written and visual content for various communication channels.
- Design and produce graphics, infographics, and videos to support online and offline campaigns.
- Generate innovative ideas to enhance the organization's digital presence.
- Update social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
- Support monitoring of social media trends and engagement with followers to foster a sense of community.
- Share creative and innovative ideas to enhance the organization's outreach.
- Meet multiple project deadlines by working efficiently and staying organized.
- Collaborate with various teams and adapt to changing project requirements.
- Demonstrate flexibility in managing and prioritizing tasks.
- Support the transformation of data into informative and visually appealing graphs, charts, and maps.
- Create data visualizations that help communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
- Use tools like Adobe Design Suite, Canva, and video editing software to craft impactful visuals.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in digital media and design.
Competencies
- Bachelor's Degree, with relevant practical experience
- Good photography/videography skills
- Familiarity with social media management (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
- Adobe design suite, Canva and other graphics design software.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Hausa.
Requirements:
- Thinks ”outside the box” with the ability to share creative and new ideas while being open to feedback on suggestions.
- Tenacity to work through multiple iterations of each project.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals.
- Excellent knowledge and experience using design tools– Adobe design suite, Canva, video editing, graphical file formats and compression standards.
- Strong track record of developing data visualization by bringing data to life through graphs, charts and maps, helping effectively communicate with key audiences.
- A thorough understanding of social media platforms and their visual language.
- Ardent learning and experimentation with new software, tools and techniques.
- Flexibility and the ability to work under tight, often multiple project deadlines.
- Fully proficient computer skills and use of relevant base software and other applications (MS Office, Google docs, Cloud storage)
- Strong skills in layout, typography, data visualization and infographic creation demonstrated through a portfolio.
