Communication and Digital Branding Officer (AfCFTA) at the African Union
The African Union (AU) is a continental body consisting of the 55 member states that make up the countries of the African Continent. It was officially launched in 2002 as a successor to the Organization of African Unity (OAU, 1963-1999). We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Communication and Digital Branding Officer (AfCFTA)

Purpose of Job
- The Digital Branding & Communication Officer will support the development and implemention of communication, advocacy strategy and plan, management of the AfCFTA branding strategy, provide inputs into the design, management and implementation of the communication activities
Main Functions
- Assist in the development and implementation of Communication strategy
- Develop and manage AfCFTA official content
- Develop and manage Social media and digital platforms
- Ensure the operationalization of the AfCFTA communication in various supports
Specific Responsibilities
- Support in the development and/or implementation of brand guidelines, communications strategies & work-plans, campaigns, events and other initiatives
- Researching, preparing fact-checking, editing, and producing professional media and communications materials for various audiences and ensuring their timely dissemination
- Providing technical support to live events, upload and update content on the website of the AfCFTA through the website run by the office, and social media accounts in Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, You Tube, etc
- Support and regularly monitor, evaluate, and report of online data
- Coordinate with team members including
- Ensure the presence of AfCFTA activities Prepare timely updates, and regular progress reports (project status & activity report, and other reports)
- Support the development of the AfCFTA Digital Marketing strategy
- Support the development of a digital marketing plans for AfCFTA programs to position the AU on digital platforms and ensure relevancy to key audiences
- Design, build and maintain AfCFTA social media presence in line with corporate policies and manage existing and new social media platforms
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Director
Academic Requirements and Relevant Experience
- University Master’s Degree in Marketing Management, Information Communication and Technology, Public Relations, Advertising and any other related studies with 2 (two) years proven continuous experience in SEM, Communication, Digital Branding Marketing and Content Management.
- Professional certification in digital marketing is an added advantage
Or
- Bachelor Degree in Marketing Management, Information Communication and Technology, Public Relations, Advertising and any other related studies with 5 (five) years proven continuous experience in SEM, Communication, Digital Branding Marketing and Content Management.
- Professional certification in digital marketing is an added advantage
Required Skills:
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment;

- Proficiency in one of the African Union working languages.
- Proficiency of two or more of the other working language(s) would be an added value.
- Applicants must be proficient in one of the African Union working languages (Arabic, English, French, Portuguese or Spanish).
- Knowledge of one more or several other working languages would be an added advantage.

Tenure of Appointment
- The appointment will be made on a regular term contract for a period of three (3) years, of which the first twelve months shall be considered as a probationary period.
- Thereafter, the contract will be for a period of two years renewable, subject to satisfactory performance and deliverables.

Remuneration
Indicative basic salary of US$ 31,073.00 (P2 Step1) per annum plus other related entitlements e.g. Post adjustment (57% of basic salary), a Housing allowance of US$ 21,832.68 (per annum), and education allowance (100% of tuition and other education-related expenses for every eligible dependent up to a maximum of US$ 10,000.00 per child per annum), for internationally recruited staff and a maximum of $3,300 per child per annum for locally recruited staff.
