Save the Children is looking for an experienced development professional to work within the Nigeria Country Programme. These roles will be critical for the delivery of results for children expected by this programme:

Job Title: Director of Programme Operations

Job Descriptions

  • As a member of the Senior Management Team, the Director of Program Operations shares in the overall responsibility for the direction and coordination of the Country Office.
  • The Director of Program Operations in his/her capacity is responsible for the effective delivery of all programming in country, including the management of all State and sub offices, emergency preparedness and response (including DRR), and logistics for the Country Office in Nigeria.
Qualification
  • S/he should have a minimum of 6 years management experience in a corporate or an NGO environment, including significant field operations experience running both emergency and development programs;
  • Robust experience of NGO development and emergency program cycle management, and with experience of working within a complex and matrix organisatlon structure
  • A proven record of leading a response to humanitarian crisis within an ongoing development programme
  • Substantial experience in logistics, including procurement, supply chain, fleet management & inventory.
  • Proven experience of working with key international donors and raising funds including USAID/, DfID, ECHO/EU;
  • Substantial experience and knowledge of effective financial and budgetary control.
Job Title: Senior Newborn Adviser

  • The overall aim of the position is to provide technical leadership for the implementation of the newborn health component of the Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP).
Qualifications
  • S/he should have a medical qualification (MD or M.B.B.S.) with a post graduate qualification in paediatrics with public health, neonatology/newborn health or related field.
  • Substantial experience in a clinical, managerial, administrative and advisory capacity.
  • Experience in providing technical support to partners and in particular government at senior levels as well as experience in health system development and primary health care management.

Job Title: Advocacy and Campaign Project Manager

  • Provide leadership and management oversight for all grants to deliver advocacy and campaign in Save the Children, Nigeria.
  • The post holder will assist the Director of Advocacy to deliver a strong advocacy and campaign effort in Nigeria. S/he will be expected to directly take charge of field staff and ensure quality performance and timely reporting of all advocacy activities and deliverables.
Qualifications
  • Candidates should have a minimum post-graduate Degree in Public Health/Social Science related field
  • 5 years' experience in Health/Social Services delivery with a focus on governance and enhanced voice and accountability;excellent communication skills and high level of IT expertise.
Job Title: Deputy Programme Manager, Working to Improve Nutrition in Northern Nigeria (WINNN)

  • Deputy Programme Manager (DPM) will work closely with the National Programme Manager (NPM) to ensure robust technical implementation and operational systems to deliver the programme with responsibility across the following areas; programme planning, timely and quality implementation of planned activities, management of internal consortium partner relationships.

 Job Title: Advocacy Coordinator

  • Provide leadership and report on the implementation of Save the Children's investment in nutrition advocacy with particular reference to coordination and financing nutrition at the national level.
  • The post holder will also be expected to contribute to the implementation of the wider Save the Children Advocacy and Campaign Strategy.
  • S/he lead on the implemention of the Child Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) Grant specifically.
Qualifications
  • Should have a minimum Post-graduate Degree in Public Health/Social Science related field (experience in Food and Nutrition Development in Nigeria at the national level will be an advantage)
  • At 5 years' experience in Health/Social Services delivery with a focus on governance enhanced voice and accountability;
  • Excellent communication skills and high level of IT expertise
  • Profound knowledge of Nigerian governance and health systems; ability to clearly communicate and easily relate to federal MDAs.
Job Title: Consultant (Analysis of Nutrition commitment and budget at the National level in Nigeria)

  • Additional information on the challenges associated with the release of funds for nutrition intervention will be collected.

Job Description

Consultancy Purpose:
  • The purpose of is to support the assessment of sectorial policies in identified relevant MDAs for their nutrition sensitivity, existing gaps in the policy and ways and means of bridging the gaps.
Responsibilities

The consultant will:
  • Conduct an analysis of sectoral policies and plans to determine nutrition sensitivity
  • Review the institutional arrangement within the MDAs that will support the delivery of nutrition sensitive intervention
  • Identify the scope of nutrition sensitive interventions being implemented or that can be implemented in the relevant Ministries, departments and agencies
  • Identify current and required capacity of the MDAs to design and implement nutrition sensitive programmes
  • Identify current funding sources or possibilities for the MDAs to implement nutrition sensitive programmes
  • Highlight recommendation that will support the advocacy and policy stream of work for WINNN project
Requirements

Skills & Competencies:
  • Advanced University Degree in Public Health , social science or relevant qualifications
  • At least 7 years experience of progressive responsible professional work at the national and international levels on public policies and plans
  • Demonstrable skills and capacity to conduct science and social science research
  • Extensive experience and skills in Nigeria Primary Health Care System
  • Substantive overall understanding of nutrition in Nigeria

Job Title: Nutrition Voice and Accountability Capacity Assessment of Stakeholders - Consultancy

  • In order to increase the access to and impact of Nutrition services in WINNN targeted states, WINNN aims to increase the beneficiaries use of their own voice (citizens ability to demand the services they require) and accountability (systems put in place to hold the government and systems to account).
  • The voice and accountability intervention will focus on demand, accountability and supply of quality nutrition services to reduce maternal and child mortality
Qualification
  • S/he should have 10 years working experience in International development specially in the area of Governance or Voice & Accountability;
  • Experience of working in Northern Nigeria and cultural awareness of Northern Nigeria:
  • Good facilitation, negotiation, research methods and analytical skills;
  • Evidence of similar work done (This should be submitted with the proposal/application)
  • Post Graduate Degree in Law, International development. Public Policy or Philosophy;
  • Working Knowledge of the Hausa Language
