Job Summary

  • Implement and coordinate all environment activities at the plant.·
  • Coordinate environmental monitoring activities and enforce compliance to regulations
  • Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement and maintain a consistent strategy to the management of environmental issues in the plant.
  • Ensure continual reduction of environmental risks associated with OCPs operations, to as low as reasonable practicable (ALARP).
  • Champion Environmental issues in the plant.
  • Manage, direct and inspire a team of independent professionals in the field of industrial environmental management.
  • Offer specialist advice on environmental issues to DCP management
  • Support the development and implementation of environmental management as parts of HSE management system in line with DCP policies.
  • Shall offer advice specific environmental issues during operation and maintenance on waste handling storage and disposals.
  • Investigating environmental incidence to identify the root causes and measures to forestall future occurrences.
  • Shall act as DCP Regulatory compliance adviser and shall advice and direct DCP management on acceptable environmental standard and ensure compliance.
  • To establish processes and targets for incorporating environmental and safety standards into DCP business so as achieve business and corporate objectives.

Requirements
Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Environmental Sciences.
  • Professional qualifications from an HSE body such as British Safety Council (BSC), Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH), Nigeria Institute of Safety professionals (ISPON) and NEBOSH.
  • Membership of Safety professional body such as IOSH and ISPON.
  • Minimum 18years relevant work experience.

Skills and Behaviours:

  • Adequate knowledge of the cement and manufacturing industries.
  • Adequate knowledge of Safety and Environmental management requirements & regulations.
  • Adequate knowledge of environmental monitoring and sampling techniques.
  • Very good knowledge of OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 will be an advantage.

Job Title: Deputy General Manager, Social Performance, Okpella Plant (Cement Industry)

Description

  • We are looking for a competent Deputy General Manager, Social Performance with direct report to the Plant Director and dotted line report to the Senior General Manager, Environment and Social Performance to organize and oversee all social performance operations of our company. Social Performance Personnel will be under your command while you develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain social performance standard.
  • As Deputy General Manager, you will have to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will need a strong commitment to social performance rules and knowledge of all social performance threats to our company’s business. Since you will have the Social Performance Department under your responsibility, you must also exhibit leadership skills.
  • Manage community relations
  • Manage relations with Local, State and Federal Governments' Ministries, Departments and Agencies
  • Manage relations with local trade associations or industry groups that impact on the activities of the Company.
  • Manage non-technical aspect and community-related issues of day-to-day production impacts of the Company operations
  • Manage media relations in collaboration with corporate communications

  • The Head of the Social Performance Department shall manage the Plant's relationship host communities and Plant's External Relations and Social Policies. The Head of Department shall advise DCP Plant's management on strategies, means and methods to ensuring that her activities and operations are consistent with the Department's management policies and framework and secure the social license to operate.

The purpose of this position is to:

  • Develop, implement and maintain a consistent strategy on stakeholders engagement establishing cordial relationship with host communities and other relevant stakeholders,
  • Establish processes and targets for incorporating social issues management standards into DCP Plant's business so as to achieve business and corporate objectives.
  • Ensure continual reduction of Social Risks associated with DCPs operations, to as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP) Manage social impacts and risks to the Plant
  • Plan, prepare budget, implement and maintain Community Development Projects (Corporate Social responsibility) • Advise management at all times in handling of all issues of external contents • Champion Social License to Operate by facilitation the acquisition of all Licenses and permits from relevant authorities and renew when due

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, direct and inspire a team of independent professionals in order to achieve Departmental goals
  • Manage identification, mapping and proactive engagements with stakeholders
  • Negotiate and manage Community Development Agreements (CDA) with communities. Sign off the CDA and obtain regulatory authorities' approval and renew when due.
  • Facilitate the Social Impacts and Risk assessment of the Plant and implementation of mitigating actions. Review periodically.
  • Offer specialist advice on social issues management to Dangote Cement Plc Ibese Plant's management.
  • Support the development and implementation of social issues management in line with DCP policies.
  • Be responsible for the operations of key environmental issues impacts management such as Waste Management, Natural Resource Management, etc., with host Communities
  • Receive and investigate incidences and grievances to identify the root causes and measures to forestall future occurrences. Maintain the grievance register.
  • Shall articulate the concept of sustainable environmental, social and community development and positively engage project-affected communities in a responsible manner.
  • Collaborate effectively with other Departments in the process of achieving the Department objectives

Key Responsibilities

  • Minimum of 27 years’ experience.
  • Previous experience working as a security manager, security officer or other security-related job
  • Working knowledge of any required computer programs and security technology

Job Summary

  • Negotiation Skills. Good understanding of the Host Communities, Basic Knowledge about Stakeholder Management Skills/Grievance Mechanism, must be computer literate with understanding of basic office application packages like; MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint etc.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate responses on all cases of grievances.
  • Support the AGM in attending consultative meetings with communities, agencies, NGOS etc.
  • Monitor and report on the social performance of all CSR projects undertaken by the plant.
  • Regularly, under the supervision of the AGM, update Stakeholder Engagement Plan and (SEP), Community Development Plan (CDP), Stakeholder Mapping(SM), Register/database.
  • Act as liaison who engages communities and other stakeholder groups in order to ensure peaceful and harmonious relationship in the environment.
  • Provides feedback/ useful information to the plant on relevant issues from the communities which might affect plant’s operations.
  • Serves as Secretary to Community Development Committee (CDC) and other community fora, local institutions meetings or stakeholder meetings at community level.
  • Collects and registers grievances.
  • Support the AGM social and community relations, to implement and monitor community development and stakeholder engagement plans.
  • Co-ordinates the local project implementation committee (PIC) during project implementation.
  • Writes and submits regular reports to the plant and headquarters through the AGM.
  • To carry out any other assignment as may be directed by plant management.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • To assist in the maintenance of absolute peace/harmony between the host communities and the Plant on a daily basis.
  • To assist in the management of conflicts arising between the Plant and the immediate host communities.
  • Continuously enlightening youths/elders of the communities on the need for a cordial business relationship with the Plant so as to ensure the Plant does not lose its properties (material or human) through willful damage by individuals and / or groups in the host communities.
  • To assist in liaising with some government agencies when need arises as directed by the high management.
