Job Title: Business Sustainability Analyst

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • Responsible for analyzing and evaluating the environmental, social, and governance performance of the organization to assess its sustainability practices and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • A good understanding of Sustainability & ESG Principles is a must
  • Data Analysis and Reporting Skills
  • Good understanding of Business Strategy & Implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the collection and collation of data relating to the organization’s sustainability performance, including environmental impact, social responsibility initiatives, and governance indicators.
  • Analyze the data collected and advise management on the environmental, social, and governance impacts on the organization.

Strategy Development:

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and implement sustainability strategies, policies, and action plans that align with the organization's mission, values, and business objectives.
  • Identify achievable sustainability goals by identifying priority areas for investment and innovation and integrate sustainability into core business practices and decision-making processes.

Risk Management:

  • Conduct risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks that may impact the organization's reputation, financial performance, and long-term viability. This involves evaluating regulatory compliance, supply chain risks, reputational risks, and emerging sustainability issues.
  • Educate team members on how to carry out risk assessments.
  • Advise management on emerging risks and take appropriate action where necessary.
  • Prepare risk assessment reports for the management.
  • Review risk assessments to determine if the mitigation plans are adequate and going as planned.

Performance Evaluation:

  • Assess the organization's sustainability performance against established goals, targets, and industry standards. This includes evaluating key performance indicators (KPIs) related to energy consumption, waste generation, carbon emissions, diversity and inclusion, community engagement, and ethical business practices.
  • Carry out variance analysis and management to check the performance of established goals versus the actual.
  • Propose changes where appropriate due to the performance evaluation of the sustainability goals.

Qualifications

  • A University Degree in a Science-based course or related field is preferred.
  • 3-4 years of experience in related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 45001:2018 is an added advantage
  • Certified Auditor ISO 14001:2015 is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with statistical methods and spreadsheet applications is required.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
