Asharami Energy Limited - a Sahara Group Company - is an oil exploration and production company with a strategy to deliver long term and sustainable growth. We are recruiting to fill the position below:     Job Title: Lead, Joint Venture Cost Accounting Location: Ikoyi, Lagos Purpose Statement

  • The role is responsible for all accounting and financial (incl. economics) related matters of both operated and non-operated joint ventures (JV) in accordance to (but not be limited to) Production Sharing Contracts/Agreements, Production Services Agreements, Accounting Procedure of Production Sharing Contracts/ Agreements and Joint Operating Agreement (JOA) with the partners, and to also be accountable for monitoring the progress of projects, investigating variances, approving expenses and CAPEX & OPEX budget management.
Key Deliverables
  • Prepare and send to the joint venture partners the joint interest billings which include information of inception to date, year to date expenditure on a timely basis.
  • Coding of all operated/non-operated Joint Interest Billing Invoices.
  • Set up and Maintain Joint Venture Accounting Master Files and AFE Master Files.
  • Perform monthly Joint Venture Accounting close processes.
  • Prepare and issue for each of the JVs a Work Program & Budget (WP&B) and corporate plan and budget.
  • Prepare and monitor including close out of Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) for all capital items.
  • Issue the budget compared to actual costs on a monthly basis to the JV partners.
  • Prepare the presentation the financial part of JV and attend meetings with host government and JV partners meetings (as required).
  • Co-ordinate the assurance / cost verification process for all JV Assets
  • Prepare and send to the JV partners the cash calls, cash forecasting and reconciliation of over/under cash call position for each working interest JV partner.
  • Monitor the cash spend in each of the JVs and ensure cash from operations are optimised by working closely with Treasury.
  • Maintain and monitor Joint Venture (JV) module in ERP systems including assets registers are properly maintain from inception to date.
  • Prepare and monitor including close out of Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) for all capital items.
Knowledge/Skills
  • Previous industry knowledge in;
    • providing support on a producing asset
    • providing support on the development of a field from FEED to construction, and
    • Project accounting with detailed knowledge of project contracts and change order documents.
  • Good working knowledge of computer system and accounting software, MS Office programs especially Excel. Knowledge of Oracle Accounting Systems a plus.
Minimum Qualification/ Experience:
  • 5-7 years of cognate experience with an upstream Oil and Gas Company or reputable audit firm.
  • A chartered accountant (ACA/ACCA/CPA/CIMA) with Accounting, Audit & Financial Reporting (Major in Finance/Accounting) background.
