Administrative and Communication Assistant at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Administrative and Communication Assistant

Location: Kano
Job type: Contract
Duration: 3 years renewable  

Duties

  • Conduct interviews for institution and official functions.
  • Assist the Scientist and team member with day-to-day administrative processes.
  • Facilitate organization of project meeting, events and travel.
  • Provide communication backstopping for exhibitions, events, and institution activities.
  • Generate and write stories for the institution newsletter (bulletin and Talking Drums).
  • Perform any other job-related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements
Qualification:

  • B.Sc / HND qualification in Mass Communication, Public Administration or related field with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.

Competencies:
The ideal candidate must:

  • Have a positive attitude, strong team spirit and the ability to work well in a diverse team.
  • Be well organized, able to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines with keen attention to details.
  • Be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with demonstrated experience with setting up and providing support for online meeting using Zoom or MS Teams.
  • Have photography skills, report writing and event coverage.
  • Have excellent writing and oral communication skills.
  • Be fluent in Hausa language (speaking and writing).
