Job Title: Accounts Assistant
Location: Ikeja, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Duties
Applicants must be able to do the following without supervision:

  • Prepareor analyzeaccounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to access accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, modifying and documenting recordkeeping and accounting systems.
  • Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
  • Assist in analyzing business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice and periodic reports.
  • Assist in surveying operations to ascertain accounting needs and o recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
  • Assist in managing and processing payments for local/foreign suppliers and in the preparation of customers' statements of accounts.
  • Assist in consolidating Intercompany Accounts.
  • Assist in achieving planned reporting time in quality and timeliness.
  • Assist in Cash Control - ensuring a structured mode of handling cash /credit transactions.
  • Assist in reducing internal financial fraud and external auditors' adverse comments.
  • Ensure proper use and upkeep of company property. Ensure 100% asset verification.
  • Assist in ensuring reconciliation of purchase interface and suppliers clearing account.
  • Assist in developing, maintaining and analyzing budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
  • Assist in computing taxes owed and preparing tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting or other tax requirements. Provide support to the Accounts Executive in advising management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
  • Assist in the preparation and supervision of imprest, payroll, claims and bonuses.
  • Assist in overseeing and managing all banking relationships on behalf of the company and in the reconciliation of bank statements.
  • Assist in liaising with consultants in the handling of Local Govt, State, and Federal Govt tax matters like PAYE, Company tax, VAT, WHT, etc, and other government levies.

Requirements

  • Interested candidates should possess a degree / HND with 3-4 years work experience.
