Job Title: Accountant

Location: Lekki Phase 1, Lagos
Department: Finance
Reports To:Group Chief Executive Officer
Employment Type:Full-Time
Work Mode-Onsite (Monday – Friday)

Job Summary

  • The Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial statements, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
  • The role requires a high level of integrity, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of financial principles to support the financial health and stability of the investment firm.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to ensure accurate reporting.

Tax Compliance:

  • Prepare and file tax returns in compliance with local and international regulations.
  • Liaise with tax authorities and external auditors as required.

Audit and Internal Controls:

  • Support internal and external audit processes, ensuring the accuracy of financial records.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.

General Ledger Management:

  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded.
  • Reconcile accounts, including bank statements and investment portfolios.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor budgetary performance and provide variance analysis.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure the firm’s compliance with financial regulations and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and adjust processes accordingly.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the finance team to ensure alignment with overall financial strategy.
  • Provide financial insights and advice to support business decisions.

Job Specification
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as ACA, ACCA as added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience in the financial services industry, preferably within an investment firm.
  • Experience in financial reporting, budgeting, tax compliance, and audit processes.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey financial information clearly.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Ethics and Integrity:

  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical standards and financial integrity.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Experience with investment accounting and financial analysis.

  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • High level of accuracy in financial reporting and record-keeping.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
