13 Life Lessons to Learn from The Big Brother Naija 2017 Show

The 2017 The Big Brother Naija is over. In the past couple of weeks, it was arguably the most trending topic in the Nigeria social media.
At the inception of the show, many Nigerians complained about its moral perversity. Some said it was a celebration of obscenity, eroticism and idleness, and that the show does not promote good ethical or cultural values.

On the other hand, some people have pointed out that through the popularity accrued from involvement in reality shows, these stars have been able to establish successful private businesses that have provided employment opportunities for several youth. They have also been contributing to the country's Gross Domestic Product, aid youth development, and ultimately providing mentorship to the youth.

What's your take on it? Well, whatever your belief is, there's always a lesson to learn in all things.

Here are 13 Life Lessons by Jobzilla, to Learn from the just concluded Big Brother Naija 2017 Show:

  1. Focus is key. Miyonse and Soma who initially channeled their energy to women, lost focus of the 25 million.
  2. Power lies in the hands of the people. 26 million votes is really huge for a reality TV show. Truth is, the Nigerian mass has the power to revolutionalize their country, whether they know it or not.
  3. Be true to thyself. I still believe that the very beautiful Gifty would have been loved by many if not for her glaring fake accent and apparent lies.
  4. The society wants you to be perfect, but you can't. In fact nobody can. People (who themselves aren't perfect) will always complain of your imperfections. The ex-housemates were all great and lovable people in their own way. However, no matter how well they tried, they were still bashed by the viewers. Bisola was once referred to a shameless sluty mother just because she fell in love with a man who she thought at the time was single.
  5. A good personality will take you places. No doubt, Efe has a good heart and a great personality. He has a heart filled with gratitude. Look where it's landed him.
  6. There are two kinds of people; Those who care more about looks, material things and make-believe lifestyle. And those who care about personality and the little but beautiful things of life.
  7. There are true friends and there are the fake ones. Know this. Among the "fantastic four", Bisola and Efe were true friends. I can't say for ThinTallTony and Marvis.
  8. You don't have it all figured out. Nobody does. The BBN show could give you a little insight on how God sees us. A lot of us move about on earth thinking we are on top of our game, when really, we're on the wrong path. The society might hail a rich senator and snub a poor farmer. But God knows their hearts. And in the end, that's all that matters. ThinTallTony won tasks and arena games, he was a threat to the guys and was the ladies man. As far as the house mates(the society) were concerned, he was a hot single guy who was favourited to win the game. The viewers(God) knew better. And he was voted out.
  9. Talent and Aptitude are critical. Even though she didn't win the ultimate price, the sky is the limit for Bisola. You must agree with me. Even Biggie conformed it. In her last diary room session, Biggie said to her: "The question isn't what can Bisola do, but what can't Bisola do?".
  10. But the society cares about looks too. Besides eating, sleeping and incessant complaints, TBoss had little to offer to the BBN house. She still had a huge fan base. Obviously because of her looks. Take care of yourself. If you can, wear a nice cologne, clean clothes, brush your teeth, exercise, drink enough water, eat and sleep well. These will definitely enhance your looks. Who knows, you might land yourself the next TV presenter job because of your looks.
  11. Educational Qualification is not everything. Bisola has proven to us that even without tertiary education, but with sheer dedication and hardwork, you can still give the so called graduates a good run for their money. This should be a motivation to non-graduates, 3rd class holders and lower.
  12. Nigeria is a land of opportunities. You too can tap into it. The Nigerian market has the human population and of course the money to spend. Just find the right need and fill it. People need entertainment, convenience, luxury, food etc. No dougbt, the Big Brother Naija show was loved and enjoyed by many. Consequently, through sms votes, brands promotion and ads placements, the organizers of the show have accrued millions (if not billions) of Naira.
  13. There have been widespread speculations that unfavourable government policies, inadequate power supply etc are some of the possible reasons why the show wasn't hosted in Nigeria. Whatever be the case, one thing's for sure; running a business in Nigeria is extremely challenging. Gear up for it.
