Do NOT Work Here - ★☆☆☆☆
MANAGEMENT: This was the biggest con at Spencer Ogden. The way that managers delivered feedback in every meeting was unproductive, mean, and left many employees feeling belittled and anxious. They rarely deliver positive feedback; it is mostly everything you are doing wrong. When we tried to ask questions, we were treated as dumb for not already knowing the answer. Of course, this does not encourage anyone to ask questions going forward. This type of communication/treatment is extremely draining for an individual, and starts to psychologically wear on a person, making them feel as though they aren't doing anything right. There were specific instances in which things were said that weren’t appropriate at all for a workplace environment. Examples: 1. When I made a tiny mistake, my manager asked me if I needed my hand held while I did my job. 2. My manager accidentally sent multiple messages talking poorly about my coworker in a team group chat. She quickly deleted the messages when she realized her mistake. 3. My colleague was treated poorly by my manager and when they approached her to try to have a conversation about it, they were told to "go sit down, there's no issue." One of my managers would frequently raise her voice at employees, including me. This type of environment does not promote growth nor productivity. When around my managers, my coworkers and I felt anxiety, and eventually resentment for not being able to speak our minds.
TERMINATION/TURNOVER RATE: The turnover rate at this place is ridiculous. In my time there (less than 6 months), I saw 7 different people fired, while one more left on her own terms after only a year. Since I have left, multiple more people have been fired. Most of the people I know that are still there are looking for other options. If your manager has a personal issue with you or does not like you for some reason, they will go out of their way to make sure you are fired. Take my advice: there are plenty of other companies at which you can have a long, fulfilling career, and not be treated terribly while you're at it. Work was the only place in my life where I was being treated poorly and with toxicity and disregard. I would never tolerate the type of treatment I received from my managers in my personal life, and I don’t believe that anyone should have to tolerate that in their work lives, either.
