Job Title: Structural Engineer

Job Description
  • A structural engineer is responsible for designing any kind of structure so that it can fulfil a specific purpose, and remain safe, economic and functioning throughout its intended lifetime.
  • Structural engineering is about investigating both the immediate loads and demands on the structure, as well as any likely future changes, and ensuring a structure is designed to withstand those loads.
  • Often working closely with architects, structural engineers are involved at every stage of a project as they use their creativity and innovation to come up with sustainable solutions to some of the greatest challenges we face, including climate change.
  • As well as designing new builds, structural engineers also ensure older structures remain safe, and often design refurbishment schemes to ensure long life for existing structures.
Skills and Interests
  • As a structural engineer, you will need to display keen commercial awareness and understand the business implications of the decisions you make.
  • Highly analytical, you’ll be good at maths, IT and mechanics, and be able to get your head around methods in construction, as well as health, safety and legal considerations.
  • You’ll have good problem solving skills and be able to manage a whole project, including looking after budget, and it’s important that you can meet deadlines.
  • Communication skills are particularly important in this role as you’ll be dealing with a wide range of clients and colleagues - as is the ability to work well as part of a team. For example, you may have to convey complex concepts to a client who is unfamiliar with structural engineering principles.

Job Title: IT Officer

Job Description
  • Sapress Construction seeks an IT technical support officer that will be saddled with the responsibility of maintaining the computer systems of the organisations, ensuring that they run smoothly and providing technical support and advice to computer users.
Responsibilities
  • Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners.
  • Support the warehouse supervisors with additional information from the database.
  • Participating in defining future processes and translating into functional requirements.
  • Categorize issues and escalate where necessary to the appropriate next level.
  • Provide solutions for equipment failures like scanners, printers.
  • Prepare system and performance tests.
  • Monitor installation of software delivery notes and test bug fixes.
  • Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance upgrades.
  • Talking to clients and computer users to determine the nature of problems.
  • Responding to breakdowns.
  • Investigating, diagnosing and solving computer software and hardware faults.
  • Repairing equipment and replacing parts.
  • Supervising junior engineering and technical staff.
  • Agreeing timescales.
  • Obtaining replacement or specialist components, fixtures or fittings.
  • Checking computer equipment for electrical safety.

Qualifications
