CHAI’s solution-oriented approach focuses on improving market dynamics
for medicines and diagnostics; lowering prices for treatment;
accelerating access to life-saving vaccines and technologies; and
helping governments build the capacity required to design and
implement high-quality care and treatment programs.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Country Support Associate, Severe Malaria
Location: Nigeria
Type: Full Time
Overview of Role
- CHAI is seeking a highly motivated individual to work as Country
Support Associate, Severe Malaria to support countries in Sub Saharan
Africa to scale-up the use of rectal artesunate, a critical newly
approved medicine, for pre-referral treatment of severe malaria in rural
communities with limited access to healthcare. This work will be
conducted as part of a CHAI-led consortium funded by UNITAID.
- This position will support CHAI teams in DRC, Nigeria and Uganda
to implement a pilot project to introduce rectal artesunate while
developing a landscape assessment of current use of rectal artesunate in
other countries across Africa.
- The candidate must be able to work independently to drive
implementation and have deep personal commitment to producing results.
This position will report to the Global Malaria Manager for East, West
and Central Africa.
- Flexibility to be based in the US or certain CHAI program
countries (Rwanda, Nigeria, etc.) pending country leadership and CHAI
leadership approval.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Global Malaria Program Support Teams and CHAI Country Teams
- Support CHAI Country Teams and their respective National Malaria Programs to quantify need for rectal artesunate for pilot areas
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis to support Program Support Teams and CHAI Country Teams
- Conduct desk research on the guidelines, procurement and use of rectal artesunate across sub-Saharan Africa
- Visit select countries in sub-Saharan Africa to understand current and future plans to scale-up use of rectal artesunate
- Support donor reporting as necessary working with Regional Managers and Country Teams on coordination and information synthesis
- Engage with key project consortium partners, UNICEF and Swiss
Tropical and Public Health Institute to ensure smooth implementation of
the overall project
- Identify key impediments to programmatic goals and work with the Program Support Teams to devise targeted solutions to them
- Other responsibilties as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience
- Strong work ethic, integrity, credibility, and dedication to CHAI’s mission
- Ability to be effective, calm, and flexible in high-pressure
situations, to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to effectively
prioritize
- Ability to communicate effectively with people of varied professional and cultural backgrounds
- Proven ability to function in a fast-paced work environment
- Demonstrated ability to work with a sense of urgency and timeliness
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to travel 50%
- Experience working in an international context and/or entrepreneurial environment
- Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to think strategically and anticipate future consequences and trends
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Advantages:
