Job Title: Care Group Promoter Supervisor
Location: Damboa and Dikwa, Borno
Slot: 7
Job Summary
- The Care Group Promoter Supervisor will be responsible for overall management of the day to day IYCF activities integrated with Nutrition programs at ward and LGA levels.
- Directly Supervise CG Promoter to ensure quality implementation of IYCF and other community level activities. Prepare a monthly report using the information provided by Care Group Promoters.
Essential Responsibilities
- Liaise with the CMAM team and other integrated sectors such as WASH and food security programs
- Ensure observance and respect the dignity of beneficiaries, care givers and members of the community at all times.
- Ensure all local authorities and communities are kept well informed of programme.
- Update Nutrition Officer on the implementation of IYCF on weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis
- Lead regular IYCF staff/Volunteers and community leaders meeting.
- Report any problem encountered to Nutrition Officer
- Ensure all IMC Supported IYCF activities sites have relevant IYCF guidelines and protocols
- Ensure IMC CNVs and lead Mothers are equipped with necessary tools and materials (e.g MUAC, counselling cards, referral guides)
- Facilitate preparation and delivery of stipends and other payments to respective CNVs and lead mothers
- Coordinate and facilitate community leaders’ dialogue sections.
- Participate in by weekly meetings for lead mothers and ensure care group promoters are taking lead to facilitate the forums
- Ensure all CNVs community lead mothers and leaders sign duty and meeting attendance sheet
- Responsible for the performance and professional development of the CG Promoters who report to him/her.
- Prepare a monthly progress report for submission to the Nutrition Officer
- Responsible to supervise each CG Promoter
- Will ensure that the families of malnourished children receive appropriate counseling, education concerning the IYCF and caring practices through Care Group.
- Responsible to liaison with the appropriate people in a timely and professional manner to ensure the financial, logistical and procurement issues required to implement project activities.

Qualifications and Experience
- Over two (2) years ‘post NYSC or an Exemption Letter experience in nutrition programming.
- Degree in Social or Behavioral science (Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Health Education) Nutrition or any other related field from a recognized institution.
- Understanding of Nutrition/ health Strategic communication planning for behavior development, social mobilization, participatory communication and research is an added advantage
- Proven experience in planning and conducting formal training sessions on health and Nutrition
- Proven capacity to supervise , coach and train other Staff
- Ability to integrate into the local environment including awareness of political, religious and economic aspects
- Ability to deal with relation with local community leaders
- Excellent report-writing skills.
- Fluent in written English and Hausa and Kanuri is a MUST

Job Title: CMAM Assistant
Location: Damboa, Borno

Job Summary
- The incumbent will be responsible for the overall implementation of CMAM in collaboration with other nutrition and SMOH staff and integration with other programs.
- S/He will facilitate good practice and ensure compliance to applicable implementation of national CMAM guidelines.
Main Responsibilities
- Plan and organize OTP at designated OTP sites in liaison with SMoH staff and nutrition officer.
- Work closely care group promoter supervisors, care group promoters and lead mothers to ensure all aspects of the program are understood and agreed and appropriate referrals take place to and from the community to OTP sites.
- Work closely with other partners implementing SC for proper referral and monitoring of beneficiaries at SC level
- Take lead on the CMAM services at fixed and mobile outreach OTP sites
- Work closely with the teams to ensure all children are screened correctly.
- Ensure all criteria are respected and understood by the teams, including admission, discharge and transfer to and from the OTP/SC.
- Ensure comprehensive health checks and correct clinical diagnosis at the time of assessment according to the CMAM protocols so that the patient receives appropriate treatment in the relevant program.
- Ensure all children in OTP are immunized according to the national protocols.
- Ensure timely identification of complications, non-responders, and referrals to the SC.
- Ensure correctness, consistence and completeness of the information in the nutrition registers.
- Ensure adequate availability of all medical and food supplies and ensure stock is pre-positioned as planned by discussing with logistics
- Through liaison with the community volunteers provide effective follow up of all cases: particularly tracing of children who are absent from the program, sick children, long stay children, children not gaining weight, and children with social problems... etc.
- Provide key health and education messages to beneficiaries based the protocol and guidelines
- Respond to inquiries regarding the technical aspects of the program admission and discharge whenever necessary at the OTP sites.
- Follow-up and ensure the field team interacts with the beneficiaries properly
- Provide a daily and weekly CMAM report to the nutrition officer.
Qualifications and Experience
- Registered Nurse with a Degree in Nursing from a recognized Nursing institute.
- Over two (2) years’ experience in CMAM and IYCF programmes
- NYSC Certificate or Exemption letter
- Valid and current practicing license.
- Excellent report-writing skills is an additive
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Hausa

Job Title: Nutrition Officers

Job Summary
- The primary functions of the Nutrition officer is to provide leadership and overall day to day management of all Nutrition Food Security programming at duty designation and state, participate in defining intervention priorities, develop necessary contacts and relationships with government, non-government, donors and UN agencies at the field level;
- Contribute to the development of strategies and manage existing programs and resources, and provide day to day supervision, management and coaching to a wide team of Nutrition Food Security in the operation areas.
- Ensure that International Medical Corps program is delivering the highest level of quality of nutrition services in line to national and international guideline.
Essential Responsibilities
- Effective implementation of IMC’s Emergency Nutrition Projects within the frame work of pertinent national policy, strategy and guidelines
- Ensure observance & respect the dignity of beneficiaries, careers and members of the community at all times
- Participate in any nutrition sector-specific assessments and make technical recommendations for appropriate activities, both for initial disaster response phase and for longer-term disaster risk reduction and transition phase.
- Determine the cause of the malnutrition in the emergency response and formulate appropriate responses that will address the cause.
- Assess the immediate lifesaving nutrition interventions needed (such as CMAM) in addition to the prevention activities (ENA, IFE, etc) that need to be implemented at the same time.
- Provide direct hands-on technical support to Nutrition Staffs and IMC partners to effectively and innovatively manage emergency nutrition projects with focus on key technical areas
- Ensure that emergency nutrition and related projects are technically sound, environmentally friendly, socially and cultural acceptable
- Actively represent International Medical Corps in nutrition sector discussions and activities, serve as an International Medical Corps nutrition sector resource person, and display technical and organizational leadership in sectoral activity commensurate with the role as a primary resource person for nutrition on the International Medical Corps in your working areas.
- Manage International Medical Corps’s nutrition response and recovery activities across a wide range of actors within International Medical Corps, donors, host governments, UN and NGO partners to ensure consistency of programming.
- Strong negotiation skill with the partners, host community, government officials.
- Actively participate and represent IMC in State and LGA nutrition CMAM Cluster meetings.
- Assist in development of, or provide technical review for, emergency response proposals to be submitted by International Medical Corps to ensure that proposed activities and programs align with best practice in the nutrition sector. As appropriate, suggest new developments in the nutrition sector to International Medical Corps programming.
- Be fully aware of national policies, strategies and other initiatives and developments by government and other stakeholders in the area of nutrition. Regularly assess the implications for IMC’s programme and priorities of any changes in the operating environment in this sector and report on these to the emergency program Coordinator and Nutrition Coordinator as required
- Actively participate in surveys done at the Community level (KAP, SMART, Causal Analysis, Barriers, Coverage)
- Ensure development of core skills and competencies in Nutrition and Food Security among IMC staff in the project offices
- Provide technical support and training where required to all team members and partners
- Build the capacity of Technical, Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) and committees to deliver quality service and undertake participatory monitoring of the implementation of the project works and record lessons and reports.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor Degree in Nutrition Dietetics, Nursing, Nutrition or an equivalent course
- Two years post NYSC or Exemption letter experience in nutrition work and implementation of nutrition intervention programmes, including community mobilization, monitoring and evaluation aspects.
- Significant experience on community management of acute malnutrition and Infant Feeding in Emergency in host communities/ IDP camp setting
- Understanding of nutritional surveillance and information systems
- Proven ability and experience in planning and conducting formal training session on nutrition including CMAM and IYCF
- Proven capacity to supervise, train and coach local staff and community workers.
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to be respectful, kind, sensitive and empathize with children and their care takers
- Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions
- Ability to deal with relations with local authorities as a Nutrition representative of IMC in the working areas
