Our Humanitarian Response Program is looking for a professional who is experienced, dedicated, passionate and eager to make a difference in the lives of people Job Title: Programme Assistant- Humanitarian Location: Abuja Department: Program Reports to: Humanitarian Project Manager Duration: 1 year Location: Plan International Nigeria, Country Office-Abuja. Purpose:

  • To provide support to program operations while ensuring adequate documentation and timely provision of support services to the humanitarian unit across all project activities in line with policies of Plan International, donor and Federal Government of Nigeria
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support humanitarian program activities
  • Maintain general office systems including filing; including following up on timely timesheet submission for the humanitarian unit;
  • Support in collating reports for program activities
  • Serve as rapporteur in humanitarian meetings
  • Support in resource mobilization by gathering information and assessments for proposal development
  • Arrange for meetings with relevant stakeholders
  • Coordinate and prepare mailings, sending, receiving and distributing documents; and’ photocopying/Scanning and courier/shipping.
  • Support with the implementation of travel plans for all visiting staff/consultants/personnel’s for
  • the humanitarian unit in liaison with the Country Admin department.
  • Prepare purchase requisition, canvas sheets, purchase order, payment requests for goods and services for the humanitarian unit
  • Maintain a consolidated asset register and procurement plan for the humanitarian unit
  • Assist in communicating logistics information for the humanitarian unit at CO level including field offices
  • Perform additional and miscellaneous job-related duties for the office as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • A BSc or HND in related area Development studies, Social Sciences etc
  • At least 1year practical work experience in similar role.
  • Work experience in an INGO with at least 1 years in humanitarian response and managing of UNICEF project
  • Demonstration of strong coordination, teamwork and planning skills with proven ability to function effectively with multiple counterparts in private, public and NGO sectors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English including excellent facilitation
  • skills and demonstrated technical writing skills for publication.
  • Experience working with Humanitarian Donor Organizations

  • Physical Environment and Demands:
  • Based in Abuja but with travel to field offices of Adamawa and Borno to provide support where necessary.
Level of Contact with Children:
  • Meduium contact- the job responsibilities of this position require the post holder to have some contact with children. Despite this, it is expected that children shall be protected at all times.
