Job Description
- An expert understanding of all functions of the finance &
accounting department, including accounts receivable, accounts payable,
taxation, cashflows, fixed assets, debt financing, project construction,
payroll and financial controls and integrity.
Leadership:
- Demonstrate leadership, utmost confidentiality and integrity
- Deputise for Director of Finance on ad-hoc basis
- Suggest/recommend continual areas of improvement based on sound analysis
Financial Accounting:
- Accuracy and integrity of numbers always and in line with IAS and IFRS
- P&L and Balance Sheet ongoing monitoring and reporting
- Timely completion of Month End, Quarter End and Year End Activities
- Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash & Bank, Fixed
Assets, Current Assets and Liabilities booked, reconciled and reported
in a timely manner
- Process payroll accurately and in a timely manner
- strict adherence to the Delegations of Authority and levels
Performance Management & Business Partnering:
- Monthly management reporting and Balance Score Card reporting with analysis and commentary
- Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
- Work closely with and Support Budget holders to ensure control and recommend optimisation opportunities
- Work with Procurement team to ensure Vendor integrity and optimal procurement policies in place
- Quarterly forecast preparation and reporting
- Annual Budget preparation and reporting
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
ERP:
- Maintain the chart of accounts and all other required subsidiary module Master Data
- Be the In-House expert on ERP
- Work closely with and ensure ERP team support and provide optimal service to Rack Centre
- Strict adherence to the Delegations of Authority and levels
Cashflows, Banking and Financing:
- Maintain strong working relationship with Internal Treasury and Bank Relationship Managers
- Always look to optimise cash flows (DSO and DPO days)
- Ongoing monitoring and follow-up of Payables and Receivables
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
- Maintain and administer company’s online Bank Platforms.
Controls, Policies, Audit, Tax:
- Develop and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance to policies and procedures
- Work closely with Tax consultant timely reporting and closure of State and Federal Tax requirements
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Strict adherence and maintenance to organised data, reports, correspondence and legal documents electronically and physical archiving. Always ensure Finance Teams network and share point drives are organised and all data is filed appropriately
- Work closely with Internal Audit and ensure controls operating optimally
- Work closely with Auditors to ensure GAAP compliance and year-end adjustments minimised
- Oversee and manage timely close of the annual audit and completion of the Audited Financial Statements
People:
- Supervises and mentor all team members
- Goals and objective setting and ensuring staff meet or exceed set targets
- Create culture of learning and ensure staff develop the right
technical and soft skills required to continue to development in their
job roles
- General finance and accounting knowledge sharing with company staff
Other responsibilities and tasks as assigned by line manager from time to time.
Expectations
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics or Banking & Finance or equivalent business experience
- Strong ERP experience/skills
- Multi-currency reporting experience
- Technology or Telecoms Industry experience would be an advantage
- Strong communicator at all levels including written and ability to present
- Systems and IT literate. Advance MS Excel Skills and Financial Statement handling and report development in excel. MS PowerPoint and presentation skills.
- Role model in performance standards and demonstrates and champions behaviour that is in line with HPOE (High-Performance Operating Environment) values
- Minimum 10+ years of experience
- Must be a full member of Institute of Chartered Accounts of Nigeria (ICAN)
- ACCA, CIMA or ACTI would be an advantage
- Must have ‘Big 4’ audit or consulting background
- Must demonstrate progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation
- Must be in a supervisory role and overseeing a team currently
