Job Title: Counter Trafficking Case Worker

Job Description

  • Working under the overall supervision of the MHPSS Project Manager and the direct supervision of the Counter-Trafficking Project Assistant (CT) the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the reintegration of victims of trafficking, monitoring and effective case management.
  • He / She will also support in maintaining contact with the relevant government authorities and technical partners, as part of reintegration process of victims of human trafficking especially the government counterparts such as NAPTIP and Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in the Northeast Nigeria.
  • He / She will also contribute todeveloping and promoting IOM's Counter-Trafficking policy in Nigeria.
  • He / she will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:

CoreFunctions / Responsibilities

  • Support the overall implementation of the mission’s counter-trafficking and victim protection activities and the development of new ones especially in North - East Nigeria
  • Monitor the protection needs of the victims of Trafficking, their families, and communities and coordinate systematic reporting
  • Collect and report critical information related to reintegration and resettlement of victims of trafficking
  • To liaise with other caseworkers and social workers from NAPTIP and Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Developments on management of caseload and referrals
  • Assist with the integration of victim protection related variables into assessments and tools used by IOM (such as DTM) and coordinate their analysis and treatment within IOM and other key protection actors
  • Coordinate with other IOM sectors staff (e.g,Livelihoods, Protection, MHPSS, and NFI) as part of integration process for VOTs
  • Support the implementation of VOTs protection strategies, notably identification, referral, and assistance activities for children (special focus on unaccompanied and separated children), victims of human trafficking and exploitation, victims of gender-based violence and / or other survivors of violence, exploitation, and abuse, in coordination with other colleagues and concerned protection actors
  • Maintain a database for victims of trafficking and draft regular reports covering a victim of trafficking reintegration, wellbeing
  • Undertake duty travels, in line with prevailing security restrictions, relating to Victims assessments, reintegration, liason with counterparts, and project implementation, as required
  • Support in the identification and screening of victims of trafficking
  • Support in the design of reintegration plans for the victims of human trafficking while ensure that victims of human trafficking are identified and receive individual case management support by identification and intake, conducting assessments, developing a case plan, direct service provision, referral and follow up for an assigned number of victims to caregivers and families (particularly foster and alternative caregivers)
  • To engage in monitoring and follow up visits to schools, skill acquisition centres, and livelihood centrewhile providing support for victims of trafficking
  • Coordinate Provide individual case management for victims of human trafficking in IDP camps and host communities in assigned coverage areas of the BAY states. including in relation to psychosocial activities, IOM counter - trafficking and other vulnerable groups regular programs on - going the Mission
  • Conduct needs assessment as part of reintegration plans for victims of human trafficking and their families.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in social sciences, education, and other human development-related field or equivalent of experience preferred
  • University degree in the above fields with seven years of relevant professional experience

Experience and Skills:

  • The ability to effectively communicate with victims of trafficking
  • The ability to adapt and work under pressure and strong interpersonal skills
  • The ability to facilitate group psychosocial activities with victims of trafficking and caregivers with an understanding of group dynamics and processes
  • A learning attitude and willingness to increase skills and knowledge in the protection of victims
  • Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure well

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and Hausa
