Job Title: Senior HSE Coordinator

Location: Akwa Ibom

Job Purpose/Objectives

  • Establish HSE culture on Savannah Energy Office work sites which focuses on elimination of accidents and injuries through adherence to Company QHSE standards and Procedures. Maintain incident and injury free workplace.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Promote awareness and implementation of Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Submission of daily, weekly and monthly QHSE reports as required.
  • Act as a member of site Emergency Response (ER) Team in accordance with the requirements identified in the ER NSOP-3006.
  • Ensure all contractor and company personnel are made aware of Company Policies and Procedures. This may involve on-site training sessions.
  • Present and/or facilitate any HSE Training as required.
  • Act as liaison with Contractor QHSE personnel.
  • Lead HSE coordination for Savannah Energy.
  • Ensure Contractor HSE activities comply with Company HSE Policies and Plans, conformed to the terms and conditions of the Contract and meet local statutory HSE regulations.
  • Provides HSE advisory inputs for contractor selection during bidding stage.
  • Maintenance of action tracking field registers and databases.
  • Participate in Risk Assessments, Incident Investigations, Inspections and Audits as required.
  • Facilitate and report on-site Safety Meetings.
  • Provide necessary data required to be entered into Safety database (Near misses/incident types) in the system.
  • Coordinate the activities in all the work locations to ensure effective HSE management system.
  • Assist the HSE manager to develop and implement corporate and field HSE - MS.
  • Implement and review QHSE initiatives, plans and schedules.
  • Coordinate hazard identification process.
  • Organize and conduct ER drills in accordance with the requirements of the ER SOP.
  • Supervise and monitor day to day safety, health and environmental activities at field locations.
  • Monitor collection and reporting of environmental data from well sites.
  • Provide advice and otherwise ensure the scheduled maintenance of Fire and Gas detection equipment – philosophy and layouts.
  • Routine technical review and update of QHSE documentation.
  • Undertake and/or assist with site QHSE inspections.

Education 

  • University Degree
  • Nigerian Institute of Safety Professional HSE Level 3 or equivalent qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent)
  • Tech IOSH (working towards Graduate/Chartered status) and or relevant HSE trainings.

Job & Main Specification (Education/Knowledge, Skills, Attributes, Experience & Other Required Details):

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in Oil and Gas industry with at leaset 3 years’ experience in site QHSE supervision
  • Ability to supervise both qualified contractor personnel and indigenous tribal workers
  • Good report writing skills
  • Experienced in the use of standard MS Office software (Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • Wide range of industry based HSE knowledge and an understanding of Legal Compliance
  • Ideally have some Environmental Knowledge/Training
  • Knowledge of Management Systems i.e. HSE & Quality
