Job Title: Utilities Construction Engineer

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure that contractors working on site have facilities, equipments and hand tools etc. that are fully capable of supporting contractors site needs in the execution of contracted works to meet schedule completions.
  • Ensure that contractors are working in the required work areas, locations, elevations and sequence of work by providing discipline scheduled completion details to enable efficient planning of all activities. With the contractors planning engineers, develop detailed daily and weekly work plans to facilitate project schedule completions.
  • Planned work activities ensuring that isometric drawings, p & id’s, equipment and materials were available to execute project in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the assigned task is on schedule and in accordance with the project specification.
  • Supervision of the activities related to Mechanical work (fabrication and installation), assuring that all activities are carried out complying with all quality and safety requirements
  • Monitor progress and provide reports and inputs to maintain the schedule completion of the project.
  • Review schedule and procedures to ensure interdisciplinary coordination and timely completion of the project.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other disciplines and functions to manage the work and provide assistance to resolve issues.
  • Conduct site surveys with sub-contractors engineering group; to propose new routes and locations for expansion of facilities where interference occurred.
  • Conduct weekly HSE assessments and safety walk through, as well as safe and unsafe auditing.
  • Resolve the cases of no-conformity with the support of piping superintendent where necessary.
  • Prepare test package as per piping system and test package priority schedule.
  • Handling all piping technical queries and investigating all field pipe work related problems, including the drawing of field sketches when necessary.
  • Elaborates construction feasibility analysis evaluating the available materials & drawings
  • Responsible for Piping erection operations and pipe support installation in accordance with schedule, Procedures, Specifications, Priorities and Availability of Construction Drawings
  • Responsible for carrying out Mechanical Clearance, Conducting Hydro and Pneumatic tests, fulfilling commissioning and Pre-Commissioning requirements for the project.
  • Ensure that all punch list items are resolved; client handover is satisfactorily concluded and that there is no prolongation of project.

Academic Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Piping Engineering

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or Piping Engineering.
